Since launching our pilot in July 2024, Healing Homes West has completed many transformative projects. Our work has ranged from comprehensive home refurbishments—including decluttering, cleaning, painting, and flooring—to children's bedroom makeovers and the creation of a living space and playroom at a refuge for mothers and children.

All referrals come through social workers in Children's Services, who facilitate family introductions and follow up on our recommendations after project completion. We emphasize family engagement, working with parents and carers who are motivated to make positive changes and understand the impact these improvements will have on their children's wellbeing. Our collaborative approach encourages families to contribute to the makeover process whenever possible.

The feedback from families, professionals, and volunteers about our impact has been overwhelming. We're passionate about developing our model to reach more families in need. With the continued support of volunteers and donations, we're already making a meaningful difference—and we believe this is just the beginning of what Healing Homes West can achieve.

We try to take inspiration from nature where we can, bringing the outside in, in any way we can by introducing artwork, mood lighting, textures and soft colours to create calm spaces to start the healing process.
